THE MODERNITY OF A GREAT CLASSIC

From the Gallo-Roman Era to the present

In Panzoult, numerous traces of human organization date back to the Paleolithic period. By the Gallo-Roman times, a thriving settlement had already been established here. Centuries later, the feudal model began to take shape. While only remnants of the Castle destroyed during the Revolution remain, evidence can still be found around the village : a dovecote, a press…

From this medieval period, the place preserves at its entrance the source of the river Roncée  housed in a small building, and the coat of arms of the Lord of Roncée , displayed on the label of our Clos des Marronniers cuvée, as depicted on a bronze plaque dating back to 1779.

The modernity of a classic

As a young agronomist and oenologist, Jean-Martin Dutour settled in Chinon in 1993 to take over the management of the vineyard. At that time, the vineyard covered 22 hectares, resulting from the merger in 1984 of the vines from Château de Roncée with those of Domaine de la Morandière (which still remains the other name of the vineyard today). Since then, farming practices have evolved under the agronomist’s guidance, emphasizing wine quality and the protection of biodiversity.
