EXPERIENCE RANGE

The origins of Château de La Grille date back to the 15th and 16th centuries. It was transformed and renovated in the early 19th century in the “troubadour” style by Marquis Gustave de Cougny. During this period, the wine from La Grille gained renown in Chinon for its quality. In 1951, Albert GOSSET, from a long line of Champagne winemakers, acquired the property, expanded it, and turned it into a state-of-the-art winegrowing and winemaking facility. Since 2009, brought back to prominence by Christophe BAUDRY and Jean-Martin DUTOUR, it has regained its brilliance, and both the location and vineyard uphold their reputation as “the “Exception of Chinon”.

CUVÉE STORY

The 35 hectares of vineyards at Château de La Grille in Chinon are planted exclusively with the Cabernet Franc grape variety, on clay-limestone soils surrounding the château. The homogeneity of this distinctive terroir, coupled with high standards, makes Château de La Grille “the “Exception of Chinon”. This wine, immediately recognizable by its bottle, a replica of an 18th-century Champagne model, sets the tone for this “luxury Chinon” with its style and complexity.
